LIMA

"stunning sunsets and delecious food at every corner"
Let me start off with the fact that Lima turned me into a bit of a foodie, but atop the delicious food I scarfed down, it also served out-of-this-world sunsets as the icing on the cake. It was also an exciting time to visit as their football team competed for a FIFA World Cup seat. Peruvians are known to quite literally trigger an earthquake warning when supporting their country in the world of football, so the hype and culture around the game were exciting to be part of and I got to watch it with a friend from my hometown of San Diego!
Culinary Delights
I didn't know this before my trip was booked, but Lima has four restaurants on the ‘World’s 50 Best’ list and takes 1st place with Central. I wouldn't consider myself a foodie, but holy moly the food here is top of the line from delicacies to street food! Between where I was staying in Miraflores and Barranco, and not to leave out the overwhelming amount the City Center has to offer, I was getting fed well. Though in all honesty, my favorite will always be the kitchen of a dear friend, Choji.
Performances Through History
There are so many performances that provide an insightful historic journey through the different traditions of Peruvian dances and art, where they also highlight the strong influences and evolution of Afro-Peruvian culture. They're good at making it an immersive experience from joining in on the dance floor to walking through a colorful water show that ended in highlighting choreographer, composer, and activist Victoria Santa Cruz and her imfamous poem "Me Gritaron Negra!"
Stunning Sunsets & Surf
I think you'll be surprised just how impressive the Peruvian coast is once you see it up close. I stayed in Miraflores and found one of my cherished activities became strolling down the coast to Barranco on foot or bike, then station somewhere to soak in all the scenery (what can I say, I'm a cheesy girl haha). Another activity I wish I did more than once was surf! The conditions were good, but not going to lie, the jellyfish stinging my friends scared me, but the chill vibes and the killer sunsets might've just been worth the little stings.

Machu Picchu: A Source of Inspiration
Once I reached the 'City in the Sky,' I felt as if I were standing in one of the greatest sources of creativity. As I roamed through its terraces and learned about its wonders, it felt like I was fueling my tank, ready to strike like lightning out of the clouds.
