PORTUGAL
"a balance of lively and calm"
a reflection
Portugal’s culture and architecture are stunning! And yes, the hilly streets of Lisbon might be tough to conquer, but they lead to unbelievable views and moments worth the journey! Whether it was making the trek to a community outdoor movie night, cruising to dine out while enjoying a private and intimate performance of fado music, or simply wandering through the streets to find the best seat to soak in the view, the hike up and down those hills was worth it.
The people I spent my time with and those I met along the way made my experience in Portugal all the more special. From the amazing group I was traveling with to the City Team I was fortunate to work with, and the locals who became friends, there was a calming high as I neared the pinnacle of what “life in Portugal” could look like.
Every day made me feel like I was living straight out of a movie. Especially when you have locals grabbing you by the hand and guiding you through the sights and sounds of each city, while dancing along the way with a vinho verde in hand. I found a version of myself that was glowing like Portugal’s glistening sea, and it left me wanting more.
Each experience, be it a boat ride, hike, museum, or rooftop hang, played a role in weaving the present I was living in with a sweet bow - reminding me that each day is a gift. So now, the memories I have taking a weekend trip to Porto, discovering the enchanting forest of Sintra, and connecting with my friends over pizza and beer, will be some of the cherished events that will always remind me of the life waiting for me in Portugal.
